Candidate Projects Should Address:

Local Initiatives (Cost Factor)

Project must NOT be expensive. The less expensive and more locally feasible it is, the higher the chance of acceptability.

Key Assessment Criteria Judged against 5-criterion rubric

Originality & Innovation

Original work created by the candidate and doable independently. Must be the child’s idea 100%.

Problem-Solving

Solves real problems: unaddressed community needs, lower running cost, or simplified novel concepts.

Functionality

Project should be a functioning prototype or operational model that demonstrably works.

Presentation & Q&A

Explainable using simple charts; identify beneficiary industry; answer judges; set up exhibition posters at Finale.

Top 4 Judges Defense: 2 Marks Poster Stands Exhibition: 2 Marks Audience Appraisal: 1 Mark

Category A

Ages 7–10
Primary 4, 5, and 6 pupils.

JUNIOR SECONDARY

Category B

Ages 11–14
JSS 1, 2, and 3 students.

A unique student or guardian email address is required per registration.

Entry Process

How Registration Works

Register Student Account

Fill out the simple online registration form with student bio-data and school details.

Take the Online Pre-Tests

Log into your student portal to attempt Pre-Test I (60% pass mark) and Pre-Test II (70% pass mark) from home.

Stream CBT, Semi-Finals & Grand Finale

Advance to the Stream CBT (80% pass mark), then the Semi-Finals CBT (70% pass mark), and battle for the ₦500k Grand Prize live!

Each track has its own registration form. A student may participate in both tracks by registering separately for each.

Pre-Test I

First online qualifier taken remotely from any phone or PC across Math, Science, Tech & Engineering. 60% pass mark.

Pre-Test II

Second online qualifier, with a higher benchmark. 70% pass mark to qualify for the Stream CBT.

Stream CBT

In-person computer-based test at designated Jos centers. 80% pass mark to qualify for the Semi-Finals.

Semi-Finals CBT

Qualified CBT passers take the Semi-Finals CBT (pass mark 70%). The top 16 highest scorers per category advance to the Grand Finale.

FINALE

Grand Finale (Live)

Live on-stage buzzer rounds, rapid fire knockout quiz, and an original hands-on science innovation exhibition.

Innovation Track Roadmap

Nov/Dec • Registration & Proposal Submission

Students submit their project idea through the 10-section Innovation registration form.

Jan/Feb • Pre-Exhibition Screening

Projects are screened and the top 10 per category are selected for the Semi-Finals.

March • Semi-Finals & Project Judging

Selected projects are assessed by the judging panel on originality, problem-solving and functionality.

April • Grand Finale Exhibition

The top 3 projects per category exhibit live for the Grand Prize.
